King Farm Movie Night Kicks Off With “Soul”

Bring a blanket or a lawn chair as King Farm movies on the lawn returns with this year’s Oscar winner for best animated film Disney’s Soul playing on the big movie screen on Saturday, May 22, 2021.

Joe is a middle-school band teacher whose life hasn’t quite gone the way he expected. His true passion is jazz — and he’s good. But when he travels to another realm to help someone find their passion, he soon discovers what it means to have soul.

The movie, rated PG, will start promptly at 8:30 p.m. on the Saddle Ridge Circle lawn area adjacent to the Saddle Ridge Community Center. In the event of rain, the movie will be rescheduled for a later date. To help us follow safe COVID-19 protocols, we ask all who attend to socially distance themselves while seated on the lawn, and to avoid congregating in large groups. Attendees will be required to adhere to the local Montgomery County mandates on mask use for vaccinated and unvaccinated persons while attending all outdoor King Farm activities and events.

King Farm Neighbors Village News

Events:

King Farm Neighbors (KFNV) continued its May activities’ schedule with a wonderful Book Club discussion yesterday of the book Year of Wonders: A Novel of the Plague. Terri Parkinson, a KFNV member, led the discussion by presenting information and pictures from her trip to Eyam, the setting of the book. According to the Book Club participants, Terri’s presentation helped them to better understand the book. Other events scheduled for May are:

1.     Coffee and Conversation on Wednesday, May 19 at 10:00 am: The discussion will revolve around favorite Mothers’ Day memories.

2.    A Musical Highlight Event on Thursday, May 27 from 4:00 – 5:00 pm: Wendy Lanxner, a professional musician, teacher, music therapist, composer, and arts-in-health practitioner, will provide the KFNV participants with an afternoon musical interlude. Ms. Lanner’s virtual show will include her performance on some of the various instruments that she plays like flute, guitar, sax, and bass as well as a sing-a-long with songs suggested by the audience. Please join the KFNV for this musical highlight event.  It will be a great and relaxing way to end the day —especially with your favorite beverage of choice.

How to Contact KFNV:

For most of our monthly events, membership is required; but membership is free and as easy as filling out an online or mail-in form. We do, however, accept and welcome donations; for these donations help defray the cost of KFNV services and events. For information on how to register for any of the above events, to become a KFNV member, or to make a donation, please contact the Member Coordinators at kfnvinfo@gmail.com, leave a voicemail at (301) 799-8104, or view the KFNV website at www.kfnv.org.

A belated but very Happy Mother’s Day to all!  We at KFNV hope that you were able to relax and enjoy Mother’s Day a bit more this year as we hopefully are seeing the light at the end of the Pandemic tunnel.
