Upcoming King Farm Board & Committee Meetings
King Farm meetings are held virtually. Residents can find the Zoom registration links for all upcoming King Farm Board of Trustees and Committee meetings online by visiting King Farm website on the “Zoom Meeting Links” page. Information about upcoming board and committee meetings can also be found in the King Farm Chronicle (https://kingfarm.org/king-farm-chronicle/).
To attend the Zoom meetings, you must register in advance. Each meeting will have an open forum for residents to ask questions or make comments (limited to 3 minutes speaking time per resident). As part of the registration process, registrants must submit their contact information (name, street address, email, and phone number) and select yes or no if they would like to speak during open forum. If you would like to speak during open forum, please provide the topic you will be speaking about.

Applicants who submitted their application with missing information, such as the property plat, schematics or sample materials, will be given an opportunity to submit information (time permitting). Otherwise, those applications will be deemed incomplete and pushed back to the November 9th ADT meeting.

King Farm Fall Festival Rescheduled for Next Sunday
The hurricane rains kept the King Farm Fall Festival from happening as planned, but a new date has been set. Join your friends and neighbors next Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Saddle Ridge Community Center lawn area and surrounding streets of Saddle Ridge Circle.
The Fall Festival will feature plenty of free activities for neighbors and visitors of all ages. Enjoy a trackless train ride around Saddle Ridge Circle, moonbounces, obstacles course inflatables for all ages, the return of scarecrow making, pumpkin decorating, a live petting zoo and more. We will welcome back the return of the Business Fair Expo featuring a variety of local businesses.
This year’s event WILL feature some of our favorite food trucks and local food vendors selling their tasty festival foods. There is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy. All food and beverage purchases will require a fee, so be sure to bring your wallet and support the food vendors. We will also welcome True Respite Brewing to the Festival this year, our 2022 beer vendor sponsor!! So be sure to stop by their booth for a taste of their Fall brews.
The majority of Saddle Ridge Circle, Saddle Ridge Lane as well as areas around the Saddle Ridge Community Center will be closed to all traffic. Residents are encouraged to walk to the event or find parking on adjacent streets. Overflow parking will be located at Safeway in the King Farm Village Center, walk into the event via Thompson Dairy Way.

2023 Draft Budget
The initial 2023 draft budget was reviewed during the October 5th Budget Meeting and there is a proposed increase for the 2023 fiscal year.

The Board of Trustees is expected to vote on the 2023 Draft Budget during the November 16, 2022 Board Meeting.
Proposed New Resolutions/Amended Resolutions For Community/BOT Review:
You can view a copy of any proposed amendments to existing resolutions or proposed new resolutions within the FrontSteps Resident Portal Internal Documents under the folder(s) 2. Governing Documents / 1 – Draft Resolutions.

- AR No. 16 – Policies and Procedures Regarding Record Retention (New)

The above resolutions will be voted on during the October 19th BOT Meeting.

- Mayor and Council to Hold first Budget Hearing:Community members can present their needs early in the Fiscal Year 2024 city budget process as the Mayor and Council hold their first budget hearing Monday, Oct. 17.

- Public participation in the budget process is a high priority for the Mayor and Council and city staff. 1st Annual LaunchCARES 5k for Charity – This Saturday
Launch Physical Therapy & Fitness Coaching is sponsoring its 1st Annual Charity Race here in King Farm on Saturday, October 8th. We are raising money for a local non-profit called SO WHAT ELSE. The race offers something fun for everyone: Certified and timed 5k/10k races (you can walk these if you wish), a 1-mile fun run/walk, a kids’ Trike-A-Thon, music, lawn games, glitter tattoos, facing painting, food trucks and more. Even the Chick-fil-A cow will attend to give away free kid’s meal coupons to all participating children.
We have received over $25,000 in sponsorships from local businesses – small and large – as well as $5,000 in gift card donations and in-kind prizes to be awarded to event participants.
SO WHAT ELSE provides after school programming, spring/summer camps, a robust food/clothing pantry, and much more to underserved children and families in DC and MD. They are making a big difference in many lives in our local community. So please come walk, bike, pull kids in a wagon, push your loved one in a wheelchair, run, jog, or race to support SO WHAT ELSE in its worthy mission.

October KFNV Events:
The very busy and exciting KFNV schedule of events for October, including a reprise highlight event for the end of October are:
1. On October 13, 2022 from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm, in the King Farm Community Center and via Zoom, KFNV participants will discuss the novel, Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker by Jennifer Chiaverini. Harper’s Bazaar’s describes Ms. Chiaverini as “imagin(ing) the First Lady’s most private affairs through the eyes of an unlikely confidante.”;
2. On October 19, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, Coffee and Conversation participants will meet in the King Farm Community Center, only. The topic of discussion will be: How do you and your family celebrate Halloween and/or what is your favorite Halloween candy? Please note: There is no Zoom option for this gathering; and
3. On Friday, October 21, 2022, the KFNV will host its evening highlight event with a delicious tasting of beer and Belgian fudge with an autumn theme, curated by our neighbors at True Respite Brewery Company and The Chocolatier’s Palette. KFNV members will remember the tasty, prior virtual events presented by these two neighbors in December of 2020 and October of 2021. This time the event will be held in person at True Respite’s Brewery Company in Rockville. The specifics are:

- Space is limited, so reserve your spot early! The last day to register is Monday, October 17, 2022;
- A food truck, Beltway Bistro, will be on the premises prior to the brewery tour for your dining pleasure. Please make sure to arrive early enough to eat dinner before the tour starts at 6:45 pm;
- The KFNV will not be offering rides to this event, so participants will have to provide their own transportation to and from this event; and
- FOR MEMBERS ONLY: In order to participate in this event, you must be a member of the KFNV; however, membership is easy to accomplish. Please see below for how to become a member of the KFNV.
Please note that the KFNV has changed its monthly Movie Club, Book Club, and Coffee and Conversation gatherings to in-person meetings and has reserved the King Farm Community Center, 300 Saddle Ridge Circle, Rockville, MD 20850 for these meetings. In accordance with the policy adopted by the KFNV Board of Directors, people attending KFNV sponsored, in-person events must be vaccinated per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s COVID recommendations. Wearing a mask is optional. In case of inclement weather and if there is time to notify participants, the KFNV may opt for a Zoom presentation for any meeting. Therefore, the KFNV will not be offering a hybrid option for any future events. Finally, the KFNV offers transportation to many of its monthly meetings for KFNV members. For most of the KFNV monthly events, membership is required; but membership is as easy as filling out an on-line or mail-in form.
