Socially Distant Halloween Activity

Halloween Boo Thru

King Farm will celebrate Halloween in a unique way! Join us for the first ever Halloween “Boo Thru” on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We will celebrate in social distancing style by staying in your car with a fun and safe event for everyone. Put on your costume, decorate your car (if you wish), grab your keys and head to 300 Saddle Ridge Circle (just outside the Saddle Ridge Community Center) for a pre-sealed trick or treat bag filled with goodies for the kids, as well as a free sealed frozen Halloween custard treat courtesy of Carmen’s Ice.

To ensure the safety of staff and guests, you must:

– Remain in your vehicle at all times and all occupants must wear a face mask;
– Trick or treat bags and frozen treats will be given through the car window;
– Due to a limited supply, pre-sealed treat bags will only be given to children who are present;

Pre-registration is required as space is limited and you must register to activities@kingfarm.org with the following information:

• Family Last Name
• Address
• How many children will be attending in your vehicle? (for treat bag count)
• How many occupants total in your vehicle will be attending (for frozen treat count)
• You will receive a registration confirmation and further details about the event upon registration

**Deadline to register is Wednesday, October 28, 2020. This event is for King Farm residents only.

King Farm Seeks Resident Input On Community Survey

The King Farm Citizens Assembly (KFCA) is excited to announce a community survey for owners and renters in King Farm, as well as others who patronize businesses within the community. This survey will be used to help the KFCA Board of Trustees gauge how the community is meeting the expectations of its residents and the data collected will be used to determine areas for possible improvement.

The survey is anonymous. However, responders can provide their contact information if they are interested in volunteering for one of the King Farm committees. Interested volunteers can also submit their information directly to the Management Office at management@kingfarm.org. The goal is to publish the results of the survey in a future issue of the King Farm Chronicle and use the results of this year’s survey as a baseline for the coming years.

City of Rockville Halloween Activities

Halloween is on in Rockville!

The City of Rockville will follow recently issued county guidance for this year’s Halloween celebrations. The guidelines can be found at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/covid19/reopening/requirements/halloween.html. Plan early and identify safe alternatives to keep yourself safe from COVID-19.

Halloween Sweet Treat Drive-Thru and Car Costume Contest:

• Show us your Halloween spirit by decorating your car for our Halloween Sweet Treat Drive-Thru and Car Costume Contest at the Rockville Civic Center Park, 1:00-5:00 pm, Saturday, Oct. 31^st.
• Make sure to register your car to book a time slot! On the day, drive through as you and your passengers collect sealed and prepackaged goodie bags handed by Rockville staff through your car window. (Face masks will be required and participants must remain in the vehicle.)
• Decorated cars could be featured on social media, where the public will be asked to help pick winners. Prizes are available.
• The cost is $8 per car for Rockville residents, $10 per car for nonresidents.

Rockville Pumpkin Decorating Contest:

Pizazz your pumpkin and procure prizes in the Rockville Pumpkin Decorating Contest! The themes must be Halloween, nature/fall, Rockville, or sports/recreation, and pumpkins can be carved and/or decorated! So, grab your carving kit, paint, glue, and glitter and submit your creation via social media with the hashtag #RockvillePumpkins for a shot at winning gift cards to local businesses:

• 1st Place: $50
• 2nd Place: $40
• 3rd Place: $30
• Honorable Mention: $25.

Photos must be submitted via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #RockvillePumpkins by 11:59 pm on Saturday, Oct. 31st. (Must be a Rockville resident to enter; one entry per person; the contest welcomes all ages; carvings and decorations must be appropriate for all ages.) Winners will be announced on City of Rockville social media by Friday, Nov. 6.

City of Rockville Leaf Collection

The City will vacuum leaves from neighborhood curbs from October to December in five collection areas throughout Rockville. After the collection period ends, use biodegradable paper lawn bags or 32-gallon trash cans (without plastic garbage bags) to set leaves out on your recycling and trash collection day.

King Farm Neighbors Village News

In October, the King Farm Neighbors Village (KFNV) is offering its members voting services during this General Election voting season. Specifically, KFNV is distributing hard copies of the Voting Guides from the League of Women Voters as well as offering volunteer services to drop off members’ completed mail-in ballots at Drop Boxes. These services are in addition to the voting information that KFNV has published through emails and through the KFNV website Blog.

In addition to these voting services, KFNV facilitated its October spotlight event—a virtual presentation on medical marijuana by Dr. Matthew Mintz on Thursday, October 22nd at 7 pm.  Participants learned about the medicinal value of marijuana in an informative Zoom presentation and question and answer session.

Going forward, KFNV is offering the following virtual events in November:

1.  The KFNV Book Club – Thursday, November 12th at 12:30 PM.  Where the book, Educated, will be discussed; and

 2.  Coffee and Conversation –  Wednesday, November 18th at 10:00 AM.  The topic will be your favorite Thanksgiving holiday food or family tradition.

We invite all community members to join the KFNV and participate in our monthly events. Membership is free; however, we accept donations that help defray the cost of events and services. How to Access the Resident Portal and Documents:

To Access the Documents within the resident portal:

1. Go to www.kingfarm.org and click the green button “Resident Sign-In”

2. This will take you to the Resident Portal login page (FrontSteps)

3. Enter your email address and password and click Log In

4. Next, navigate to the side menu that says Documents and click on the drop down.

5. Navigate to the Internal Documents. Within the Internal Documents there are various folders that are for King Farm titleholders/citizens only.

6. Click the folder “1. Board of Trustees (BOT)”, then click the sub-folder “BOT Resident Board Books”

7. Then click on the file for the upcoming meeting and you will be able to view it and print it.

8. In the “BOT Meeting Supporting Documents” folder, you can access the draft resolutions for review.

Alternatively, you can go to www.kingfarm.org and access the documents from the Board of Trustees webpage:

1. Go to the KF website and navigate to the menu drop-down, “Board & Committees” and click “Board of Trustees”.

2.  This will take you to the BOT webpage. This is where meeting updates are posted and other relevant information.

3. The Zoom registration link for the BOT meeting is located on the page.

3. There are links to the draft resolutions or any additional documents for the meeting on this page, including the BOT agendas and minutes.

4. If you click on the link “Please click here to view the draft resolutions under review”, it will redirect you to a folder with all of the files where you can again view and/or print them.
