  1. Please meet up with the KFNV Walking Club Monday through Friday at 3:45 pm sharp at the park across from Fontina’s Grill at 801 Pleasant Dr, Rockville, MD 20850.  If you haven’t joined before and plan to, please send a message to kfnvinfo@gmail.com letting the Walking Club know you want to be on the Walking Club Mailing List.  The Walking Club does not meet when the weather is inclement.
  2. On Thursday, May 7, 2026 from 2:00-3:00 pm in the King Farm Community Center, Movie Club participants will review the film, Minari, a 2020 drama, written and directed by Lee Isaac Chung. Minari is a semi-autobiographical film about the move that her Korean-American family made to rural Arkansas in the 1980’s.
  • On Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 7-8:30 pm in the King Farm Community Center, the KFNV will host Games Night. The KFNV will provide various board games, but you are welcome to bring your own game(s) as well. In addition, please bring your own snacks and drinks to nibble on and sip as you play your favorite board game.
  • On May 14, 2026, the KFNV Book Club will meet in the King Farm Community Center to discuss the novel, Honor by Thrity Umrigar. Honor tells the story of an Indian-American journalist who returns to her homeland after twenty years to cover the story of a Hindu woman who was attacked by her family for marrying a Muslim man, who dies from the attack. Ms. Umrigar is the bestselling author of eight novels, including, The Space Between Us, a novel finalist for the PEN/Beyond Margins Award.
  • On Tuesday, May 19, 2026 the Metro Club will visit the National Museum of African Art and the National Museum of Asian Art and Gardens.

The particulars of the visit are:

  • The KFNV Metro Club will meet on the Shady Grove Metro platform at 9:20 am.  At that time, the group will decide to either exit at Metro Center with a .8 mile walk or transfer to the Silver Line to the Smithsonian stop and walk .2 miles to the museums.
  • Bring your own lunch or join us for lunch at the Moongate Cafe in the National Museum of Asian Art.
  • We will return by Metro by 2:30 pm.

Please note you must be a member of the KFNV to participate in this event; however, membership is as easy as filling out an on-line or mail-in form with residency in the King Farm community being the only membership requirement. Please see below under “Contacting the KFNV” for how to become a member.

  • The KFNV will host its Highlight Event also on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 in the King Farm Community Center. The event entitled, Program & Services for Older Adults in Montgomery County, will be presented by representatives from the Montgomery County’s Commission on Aging. The presentation will center on the plethora of services and programs that Montgomery County offers to its Seniors—both the active and healthy as well as those needing more support.  During the presentation, you will be able to ask questions and receive answers about these programs and services. You do not have to be a member of the KFNV to attend this presentation. All King Farmers are welcome to attend.

  • On Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 10:00-11:00 am in the King Farm Community Center, the KFNV will host the monthly Coffee & Conversation. We hope that you will come and chat with your fellow King Farmers.

Services

The KFNV continues to support King Farm residents with its community services: transportation to appointments, simple household tasks, some pet services, friendly phone calls/texts, and friendly visits. Please feel free to avail yourself of all of the community services that the KFNV offers. If you are in doubt about whether a task could be performed by one of the KFNV volunteers, go ahead and fill out the service form on the KFNV website. Our Operations Team will get back to you to determine if the task is under our umbrella of tasks. Also, please note that services are open to KFNV members only; however, membership is free and an easy process. See below on how to contact the KFNV to schedule any of the services or with any questions that you may have about the services as well as how to become a KFNV member.
