Events

The King Farm Neighbors Village (KFNV) is ending April with two events, one of which is an informational meeting about the creation of a new club.  The details for the KFNV events for the last week of April are below.

  1. The KFNV Walking Club continues its daily jaunts on Monday-Thursday at 4 pm, except in the case of inclement weather. The group meets in the park across from The Fontina Grille.
  • On Monday, April 28, 2025 at 10:00 am in the King Farm Community Center, Susan Fullenbaum, a member of the KFNV Events Committee will lead a discussion on setting up a new KFNV club: The Metro Club. Participants in this club will take the metro to explore DC museums and sculpture gardens, including docent-led museum tours as well as lunch afterwards.  If you would be interested in participating in such excursions, please attend this informational meeting on April 28th.  The KFNV is looking forward to seeing and hearing your views on this new KFNV club.
  • Due to circumstances beyond our control, Tech Moxie needs to make their presentation on   ABCs of Staying Safe Online and on the Telephone via Zoom and not in person.   KFNV will be sending a Zoom link to all registered guests for this program.

Specifically, on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 1:00-2:00 pm, the KFNV via Zoom will host its monthly highlight event: ABCs of Staying Safe Online (and on the Telephone). Erin Byrne, Director of Education and Community Outreach for TechMoxie, LLC will provide information on how to keep oneself safe online. With the numerous scams online and via the phone, the KFNV hopes this presentation will provide King Farmers with important and timely information. All King Farmers are invited to this highlight event. You don’t have to be a member of the KFNV to attend. Please note this event is being held on a Wednesday rather than on a Thursday as is the KFNV’s usual schedule for highlight events.

Services

A testimonial from a grateful recipient of the KFNV services:

I have just had the honor and distinct pleasure of meeting (the two KFNV volunteers).  They both worked incredibly diligently and patiently to help me with a stubborn smoke detector as well as changing two lightbulbs that I could never have reached on my own.  They were so kind and very innovative in solving the mystery of a strangely designed smoke detector, that had cryptic instructions and an elusive battery compartment.

I cannot begin to thank them and you for providing such a wonderful service to our King Farm community.  It is refreshing to see how neighbors can help neighbors with our different skill sets and I am an enthusiastic fan – and aspire to volunteer myself with whatever I can offer…

The KFNV continues to support King Farm residents with its community services: transportation to appointments, simple household tasks, friendly phone calls/texts, and friendly visits. Please feel free to avail yourself of all of the community services that the KFNV offers. If you are in doubt about whether a task could be performed by one of the KFNV volunteers, go ahead and fill out the service form on the KFNV website. Our Operations Team will get back to you to determine if the task is under our umbrella of tasks. Also, please note that services are open to KFNV members only; however, membership is free and an easy process. See below on how to contact the KFNV to schedule any of the services or with any questions that you may have about the services as well as how to become a KFNV member.

Contacting the KFNV

For most of the KFNV monthly events as well as the services, membership is required; but membership is as easy as filling out an on-line or mail-in form with residency in the King Farm community being the only membership requirement.  We are a multi-generational Village; therefore, the KFNV welcomes all adult King Farm residents of all ages.

Although there is no fee to become a KFNV member, the KFNV does, however, accept and welcome donations; for these donations help defray the cost of KFNV services and events.

For information on how to register for any of the events, to request a service or a ride, to become a KFNV member or a volunteer, or to make a donation, please contact the Operations Coordinator by calling (301) 799-8104 to  leave a voicemail,  emailing the KFNV at kfnvinfo@gmail.com , or viewing the KFNV website at  www.kfnv.org.
