Volunteers

This month the Board of Directors (Board) for King Farm Neighbors Village (KFNV) is asking for a special volunteer request. We are in need of KFNV Board members.  You don’t need any unique experience to be a Board Member—just a willingness to help your King Farm neighbors through the KFNV.  If you are interested in joining the KFNV Board, I would encourage you to contact a KFNV Board member to discuss Board member duties and to please consider the following solicitation for new Board members.  The KFNV thanks you for your thoughtful consideration.

King Farm Neighbors Village Seeking New Members for Board of Directors

The King Farm Neighbors Village (KFNV) seeks individuals to serve as members of the Board of Directors.  The Board is a volunteer managing entity for the KFNV and works to develop, implement and sustain activities that support the KFNV mission to help King Farm residents who would like to remain in their homes throughout their lives and age in place.  The KFNV coordinates services such as friendly visits, check-in phone calls, social events, health and safety events and transportation.

Board members must be residents of King Farm and members of the KFNV. We are seeking individuals who are interested in the KFNV and its mission, who have experience germane to serving on the KFNV Board and who are willing to commit a level of effort necessary to complete the duties of a KFNV Board member.  Term of service for Board members is two years, beginning at the Annual Meeting held in April of each year.

If you are interested in joining the KFNV Board, please send a statement of interest and a brief bio to kfnvinfo@gmail.com.

For more information about the KFNV, see the website at www.kfnv.org

Events

The following events are scheduled for the second half of February.

  1. The KFNV Walking Club continues its daily jaunts on Monday-Thursday at 4 pm, except in the case of inclement weather. The group meets in the park across from The Fontina Grille.

    2.      On Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 1:00-3:00 pm, the KFNV Friends will meet for lunch at Bon Fresco, located at 534 Gaither Road, Rockville, MD. You do not have to be a KFNV member to participate in this luncheon; although this is a KFNV Friends Club meetup and everyone is responsible to pay for their own lunch. Come out and enjoy lunch and perhaps meet some new King Farmers.

    3.      On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, Coffee & Conversation participants will meet in the King Farm Community Center from 10:00 -11:30 am to discuss: What are your suggestions for the development of the King Farm Farmstead Park, the 7-acre historic site at 1101 Grand Champion Drive?

    • On Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 4:00-5:00 pm in the King Farm Community Center, the KFNV will host its highlight event: Genealogy: What’s It All About with Lorraine Minor. Ms. Minor is an officer in the Montgomery County Genealogical Society and has been doing genealogical research for over 30 years.  We look forward to hearing about the techniques involved in researching our families.

    Services

The KFNV continues to support King Farm residents with its community services: transportation to appointments, simple household tasks, friendly phone calls/texts, and friendly visits. Please feel free to avail yourself of all of the community services that the KFNV offers. If you are in doubt about whether a task could be performed by one of the KFNV volunteers, go ahead and fill out the service form on the KFNV website. Our Operations Team will get back to you to determine if the task is under our umbrella of tasks. Also, please note that services are open to KFNV members only; however, membership is free and an easy process. See below on how to contact the KFNV to schedule any of the services or with any questions that you may have about the services as well as how to become a KFNV member.

    Contacting the KFNV

For most of the KFNV monthly events as well as the services, membership is required; but membership is as easy as filling out an on-line or mail-in form with residency in the King Farm community being the only membership requirement.  We are a multi-generational Village; therefore, the KFNV welcomes all adult King Farm residents of all ages.

Although there is no fee to become a KFNV member, the KFNV does, however, accept and welcome donations; for these donations help defray the cost of KFNV services and events.

For information on how to register for any of the above events, to request a service or a ride, to become a KFNV member or a volunteer, or to make a donation, please contact the Operations Coordinator by calling (301) 799-8104 to  leave a voicemail,  emailing the KFNV at kfnvinfo@gmail.com , or viewing the KFNV website at  www.kfnv.org.
