Events

The King Farm Neighbors Village (KFNV) has the following activities scheduled for September.

1. Please meet up with the KFNV Walking Club Monday through Friday at 3:45 pm sharp at the park across from The Fontina Grille at 801 Pleasant Dr, Rockville, MD 20850.  If you haven’t joined before and plan to, please send a message to kfnvinfo@gmail.com letting the Walking Club know you want to be on the Walking Club Mailing List.  The Walking Club does not meet when the weather is inclement.   

• The KFNV Book Club will meet on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 12:30-2:00 pm in the King Farm Community Center to discuss the 2024 novel, James by Percival Everett. James is a re-imagining of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, narrated by Huck’s friend, fugitive slave James a/k/a Jim. Bonnie Garmus, author of Lessons in Chemistry describes the novel as “Pure brilliance. Funny, wise, gracious; this may be Everett’s best book yet.”

• On Tuesday, September 15, 2026 from 7-8:30 pm in the King Farm Community Center, the KFNV will host Games Night. The KFNV will provide various board games, but you are welcome to bring your own game(s) as well. In addition, please bring your own snacks and drinks to nibble on and sip as you play your favorite board game.

• The KFNV Friends Club will meet for lunch on September 17, 2026 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Ayşe Meze Lounge, 700 King Farm Blvd, Ste 170, Rockville, MD 202850. This is a KFNV Friends meetup and everyone is responsible to pay for their own food. Come and enjoy some lunch and camaraderie with your fellow King Farmers.

• On Thursday, September 24, 2026, the Metro Club will visit National Museum of African Art & the National Museum of Asian Art, 1400 Constitution Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20560. The group will meet at the Shady Grove Metro at 9:20 am and will return to King Farm by 2:30 pm. After the group’s exploration of both museums and the beautiful gardens between the museums, the group will enjoy lunch at the Moongate Café, the restaurant located in the National Museum of Asian Art. This visit offers a great opportunity to explore both the African and Asian cultures.

• On September 24, 2026 from 4:00-5:30 pm in the King Farm Community Center, the KFNV will host its monthly highlight event with historian Ralph Buglass of Montgomery History, who will give a presentation on the 250^th anniversary of Montgomery County.  Mr. Buglass’s presentation:  Montgomery Montage: A 250-Year Tapestry of Time, People, and Place will trace the course of the evolution of the county from a rural and agricultural area to a suburban and urban environ. In describing this change, Mr. Buglass will supplement his presentation with lavish vintage photos, maps, and other images. Please come and learn about the history of our county, especially as we celebrate the 250^th year of its founding in September.

• The KFNV will host Coffee & Conversation on September 30, 2026 from 10:00-11:30 am in the Community Center. The topic will be: What was your most exciting travel experience?  Please feel free to bring your travel photos.

Services

The KFNV continues to support King Farm residents with its community services: transportation to appointments, simple household tasks, friendly phone calls/texts, and friendly visits. Please feel free to avail yourself of all the community services that the KFNV offers. Also, please note that if you are in doubt about whether a task can be accomplished by one of the KFNV volunteers, go ahead and fill out the service form on the KFNV website. Our Operations Team will get back to you to determine if the task is under our umbrella of tasks. Finally, please note that services are open to KFNV members only; however, membership is free and an easy process. See below on how to contact the KFNV to schedule any of the services or with any questions that you may have about the services as well as how to become a KFNV member.

Contacting the KFNV

KFNV membership is required for most club and group events and all services provided. Please remember that membership is as easy as filling out an on-line or mail-in form; for the only KFNV membership requirement is King Farm residency. We are a multi-generational Village; therefore, the KFNV welcomes all adult King Farm residents of all ages.

Although there is no fee to become a KFNV member, the KFNV does, however, accept and welcome donations; for these donations help defray the cost of KFNV services and events.
