Sept. 19, 2024        KFNV Friends Picnic
Sept. 25, 2024        Coffee and Conversation
Sept. 26, 2024        Highlight Event: Walking through Rockville’s History

Events

King Farm Neighbors Village (KFNV) started September with its Movie Club yesterday where the romantic comedy, Book Club: The Next Chapter was reviewed.  Participants enjoyed the light-hearted movie, especially the beautiful Italian scenery.

1.    The KFNV Walking Club continues its group strolls Monday -Thursday at 4 pm, except in the case of inclement weather. The group meets in the park across from The Fontina Grille.

2.    On Thursday, September 12th from 12:30-2:00 pm, the KFNV Book Club will meet to discuss the novel, The Forest of Vanishing Stars by Kristin Harmel. It is a “fascinating, meticulously researched, and utterly unique (story),” New York Times.

NOTE: THIS IS A CHANGE IN LOCATION FOR THE KFNV FRIENDS SEPT. LUNCHEON

3.    On Thursday, September 19th from 1:00-3:00 pm, The KFNV Friends Club will meet for a picnic lunch at Lake Needwood in Rock Creek Regional Park, 15700 Needwood Lake Circle, Derwood, MD. All residents of King Farm are invited as membership in the KFNV is not a requirement to participate in the luncheon.

In addition, The KFNV Friends Club is offering transportation to Lake Needwood through the KFNV certified drivers’ program. Those who need rides will meet at a central location in King Farm for the ride over to the park. Please answer the question on the invitation about whether you need a ride, if you are a certified volunteer driver for KFNV who can provide a ride, or if you plan to transport yourself there. Also, the invitation will give directions as to the exact location at the park for the picnic. Finally, for your lunch fare, please bring your own lunch from home or have it made by one of our excellent sandwich specialists in King Farm or from a local restaurant and enjoy it with your friends at Lake Needwood Park. We hope to see many King Farmers at our fall picnic.

4.    On Wednesday, September 25th from 10:00-11:30 am, the KFNV will host their monthly Coffee and Conversation at the Community Center.  The participants are encouraged to bring a photograph of anything or anyone and describe their pictures to their fellow King Farmers.  Come and relive your childhood “Show and Tell” years at September’s Coffee and Conversation!

5.    On Thursday, September 26th from 10:30 am-11:30 am, the KFNV will host its monthly highlight event: Walking through Rockville’s History, a walking tour of downtown Rockville with Ralph Buglass from Montgomery History as our guide. KFNV members will remember Mr. Buglass from other historical and engaging highlight events that he has presented to the KFNV. The walk will highlight Rockville’s beginnings as a colonial crossroads, urban renewal in the 1960-1970s, and its significant African American history. This tour is open only to KFNV members. In addition, please respond by September 19, 2024 if you would like to participate as spaces on this tour are limited.  Finally, in case of inclement weather, the KFNV may have to cancel the tour; but will notify participants as soon as practicable.

Please note that the monthly Movie Club, Book Club, Coffee and Conversation gatherings, and many highlight events are held at the King Farm Community Center, 300 Saddle Ridge Circle, Rockville, MD 20850.  In case of inclement weather and if there is time to notify participants, the KFNV may opt for a Zoom presentation for any meeting or event.  Finally, the KFNV offers transportation to many of its monthly events for KFNV members.

Please contact the Operations Coordinator at kfnvinfo@gmail.com, or leave a voicemail at (301) 799-8104 to arrange for transportation.

Services

The KFNV continues to support King Farm residents with its community services: transportation to appointments, simple household tasks, friendly phone calls/texts, and friendly visits. Please feel free to avail yourself of all of the community services that the KFNV offers. If you are in doubt about whether a task could be performed by one of the KFNV volunteers, go ahead and fill out the service form on the KFNV website. Our Operations Team will get back to you to determine if the task is under our umbrella of tasks. Also, please note that services are open to KFNV members only; however, membership is free and an easy process. See below on how to contact the KFNV to schedule any of the services or with any questions that you may have about the services as well as how to become a KFNV member.

Volunteers

The KFNV is always looking for “neighbors helping neighbors” to provide community services to its members like drives to appointments, friendly visits and telephone calls, and help with simple household tasks. Volunteers are an important part of the KFNV.
Please feel free to contact the Operations Coordinator for any questions you may have  about becoming a KFNV volunteer  by calling (301) 799-8104,  emailing to kfnvinfo@gmail.com , or viewing  the KFNV website at www.kfnv.org for information as well as an on-line form to fill out to become a KFNV volunteer. The KFNV thanks you for your consideration in becoming a KFNV volunteer.

Contacting the KFNV

For most of the KFNV monthly events as well as the services, membership is required; but membership is as easy as filling out an on-line or mail-in form with residency in the King Farm community being the only membership requirement.  We are a multi-generational Village; therefore, there is no age requirement to join the KFNV. The KFNV welcomes all King Farm residents of all ages.

Although there is no fee to become a KFNV member, the KFNV does, however, accept and welcome donations; for these donations help defray the cost of KFNV services and events.

For information on how to register for any of the above events, to request a service or a ride, to become a KFNV member or a volunteer, or to make a donation, please contact the Operations Coordinator by calling (301) 799-8104 to  leave a voicemail,  emailing the KFNV at kfnvinfo@gmail.com , or viewing the KFNV website at  www.kfnv.org.

RockView Program

If you have a ring camera (or other front door/doorbell camera), you can register it with the RCPD. The RockView program allows residents and business owners to voluntary register their privately owned video security camera systems with the RCPD. Registration in the RockView program does not enable law enforcement to view camera footage without an owner’s permission. However, the RockView program will allow city police to quickly identify security cameras that may have captured criminal activity when a crime is reported nearby. For more information about the RockView program, click here

If you have a crime or concern to report, please contact the Rockville City Police Department at:
