On April 17, 2024, King Farm Citizens Assembly (“Assembly”) will hold its Annual Meeting and Election. There are two (2) open seats on the Assembly’s Board of Trustees (BOT) and one (1) seat for the KFCA President. All seats have a two 2-year term.
The primary purpose of the meeting is for the presentation of the State of the Community report by the KFCA President and the election of two (2) Board of Trustees seats and one (1) KFCA President seat. The KFCA Treasurer will provide a brief presentation on the current annual budget. Election results will be announced at the meeting.
One (1) candidate is running for two (2) open seats on the Board of Trustees (the BOT will appoint a member to the vacant seat) and two (2) candidates are running for one (1) seat as the KFCA President. This information is available in the March edition of the King Farm Chronicle, in the Management email blasts, and/or by requesting a hard copy from the Management Office.

KING FARM COMMUNITY SHRED DAY!
The King Farm Citizens Assembly is hosting the annual drive through free Shred It event next Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. behind the Saddle Ridge Community Center parking lot on Thompson Dairy Way. This is the only Shred-It event to be held this year.
Drive through and let King Farm staff remove your bags/boxes from your vehicle. There is no limit to the number of bags or boxes you can bring to shred. Please remove all binder clips and plastic materials from your shredding items. Please refrain from bringing bags of common household trash. The Shred-It event is for PAPER items only.
To make the lines move more quickly, residents are encouraged to stay in their cars, place their shred items in trash bags so that it may be easier thrown into the shredder. If you bring your items in recycled bags or boxes which you would like returned, there may be a wait time. For more information e-mail activities@kingfarm.org.
Periodic exterior inspections of the homes/lots in King Farm are important for ensuring all property owners are maintaining their home/lot in accordance with the governing documents. These maintenance standards contribute to enhancing curb appeal and property values.
HOA Inspections USA, an independent inspection company, will take photos of homes as part of the inspection process. The photographer will be identifiable by their colored safety vest. The photographer will be using cameras to take photos of homes from common/public areas. The photographer will not discuss what issues may be cited for yours or anyone else’s property.
Take a moment to look at the exterior of the home and determine if maintenance is needed. Some maintenance may need to be performed annually depending on sun exposure, moisture, grading of soil, shade, and other factors. Be sure to review the Equity Resolutions #6 (Landscaping) and #9 (Exterior Maintenance). Click the “Inspections Are In Progress” header to obtain more information.
Please plan ahead with maintenance projects. If you are traveling, make arrangements to maintain your landscaping through the growing season. This is especially important during the spring and summer months because landscape maintenance can easily get unruly. Also, please remember to email the On-Site Management Team the contact information for your management company (if hired). If you have an alternate contact while you are on travel or your contact information changes while on travel, pleas keep us informed. Homeowners are responsible for ensuring their lot is properly maintained even while away. However, if there extenuating circumstances, please contact Management Team as soon as possible at 301-987-0122 or management@kingfarm.org.
If maintenance items are identified, a notice from HOA Inspections USA will be sent via USPS mail. Email notifications will NOT be sent for the initial notice. The initial notice will provide a compliance date to bring the noted items into compliance.

SPRING COMMUNITY YARD SALE
The City of Rockville will be hosting a Spring Community Outdoor Yard Sale on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. right here in King Farm in the parking lot of the Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park. This event is perfect for those King Farm residents who have been waiting for the return of the yard sale! If you are interested in participating, you must pre-register and submit payment to secure your one parking spot space and a 6-foot table. Rain date will be Sunday, May 5, 2024. The cost is $35.00 for one city provided table, additional tables can be purchased for $35.00 or you may register and bring your own table for $25.00. The Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup is taking place on Saturday, April 6, 2024. A group of volunteers working with the City of Rockville and King Farm Board of Trustees will be removing litter along the King Farm Stream Valley Park, known as Watts Branch I.
WHEN: Saturday, April 6, 9 AM to 12 PM
WHERE: Meet at the Gazebo on Watkins Overlook at the bottom of Crooked Creek Drive (marked on map below)
This activity is approved for MCPS Student Service Learning Hours. There will be forms at the check-in desk when you arrive. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult and under 18 must arrive with parental permission.

Events
The King Farm Neighbors Village (KFNV) started out its April busy schedule with the KFNV Movie Club on April 4, 2024. Movie Club participants discussed the film, Air, which was based upon the true events of the deal between Nike and Michael Jordan and the development of the Air Jordan shoe. Other KFNV activities scheduled for April are the following:
- The Walking Club continues its strolls Monday-Thursday at 4 pm, except in the case of inclement weather. The group meets in the park across from The Fontina Grille.
- On Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 12:30-2:00 pm, the KFNV Book Club will review The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, the first-person graphic, narrative novel by Sherman Alexie. The novel is told from the perspective of a Native American teenager, Arnold Spirit Jr., also known as “Junior,” a 14-year-old promising cartoonist. Junior tells his story of living on the Spokane Indian Reservation but going to an all-white high school. Of note, the graphic novel includes 65 cartoons to further the plot.
- On Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 7:00-9:00 pm, the KFNV will host its monthly Games Night. Come out and enjoy some competitive fun with your King Farm neighbors. You do not have to be a member of the KFNV to join in the fun. The KFNV will provide various board games, but you are welcome to bring your own game(s) as well. In addition, please bring your own snacks and drinks to nibble on and sip as you play your favorite board game.
- On Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 1:00-3:00 pm, the KFNV Friends Club will host its monthly luncheon at Bon Fresco Restaurant. Please come and enjoy lunch and conversation with your fellow King Farmers. All residents of King Farm are invited as membership in the KFNV is not a requirement to participate in the luncheon.
- On that same day, Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 7:00-9:00 pm, the KFNV will hold its Annual Meeting, The KFNV: A Year of Growth. The KFNV Board of Directors invites all members of the King Farm Community and hopes to see many King Farmers at this annual meeting. It’s a perfect opportunity to learn what the KFNV has been doing this last year and what its plans are for the future.
- On Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 10:00-11:30 pm, Coffee and Conversation participants will enjoy light breakfast refreshments and discuss the topic: What do you enjoy about aging?
Please note that the monthly Movie Club, Book Club, Coffee and Conversation gatherings, and many highlight events are held at the King Farm Community Center, 300 Saddle Ridge Circle, Rockville, MD 20850. In case of inclement weather and if there is time to notify participants, the KFNV may opt for a Zoom presentation for any meeting or event. Finally, the KFNV offers transportation to many of its monthly events for KFNV members. Services
The KFNV continues to support King Farm residents with its community services: transportation to appointments, simple household tasks, friendly phone calls/texts, and friendly visits. Please feel free to avail yourself of all of the community services that the KFNV offers. If you are in doubt about whether a task could be performed by one of the KFNV volunteers, go ahead and fill out the service form on the KFNV website. Our Operations Team will get back to you to determine if the task is under our umbrella of tasks. Also, please note that services are open to KFNV members only; however, membership is free and an easy process. See below on how to contact the KFNV to schedule any of the services or with any questions that you may have about the services as well as how to become a KFNV member.
Volunteers
The KFNV is always looking for a “few good volunteers” to provide community services to its members like drives to appointments, friendly visits, and help with simple household tasks. Volunteers are an important part of the KFNV. Please feel free to contact the Operations Coordinator for any questions you may have about becoming a KFNV volunteer by calling (301) 799-8104, emailing to kfnvinfo@gmail.com , or viewing the KFNV website at www.kfnv.org for information as well as an on-line form to fill out to become a KFNV volunteer. Contacting the KFNV
For most of the KFNV monthly events as well as the services, membership is required; but membership is as easy as filling out an on-line or mail-in form with residency in the King Farm community being the only membership requirement. We are a multi-generational Village; therefore, there is no age requirement to join the KFNV. The KFNV welcomes all King Farm residents of all ages.
Although there is no fee to become a KFNV member, the KFNV does, however, accept and welcome donations; for these donations help defray the cost of KFNV services and events.

KING FARM PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE REPAIRS/DETOUR
The City has contracted with Tito Contractor to repair the pedestrian bridge that provides access from Creek Valley Lane to Barnside Place in the King Farm Community. The work is anticipated to start weather permitting on/or about Monday 4/15/24. The work is anticipated to be completed within two weeks of the start date. The work that is scheduled will require the City to close the pedestrian bridge to all public access for the two week period, therefore a detour map has been attached. The contractor will post Notice Signs this week as well as the detour map on each end of the bridge.
MATTIE PARK CONSTRUCTION
The City of Rockville is constructing a Labyrinth at Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park. The Labyrinth also has a symbolic Flame of Hope in honor of Mattie Stepanek’s 20-year peace legacy.
Labyrinths are a maze or meandering path that is created for the purpose of meditation. The fire sculpture in the center represents the “Flame of Hope”, an international symbol of peace. The flame of hope is a living flame that has traveled around the world and visited Mattie J.T. Stepanek park in January of 2022.
There will be a peace day celebration at Mattie J.T. Stepanek park in July, the date and time is to be determined. Residents can check for updates on the Rockville website (https://rockvillemd.gov/calendar.aspx).
COMMUNITY SAFETY
In order to keep King Farm as safe and secure as possible, the residents of our community need to communicate with City Police on what happens here. When seemingly random acts of vandalism or other crimes don’t get reported to the police in a timely fashion, it makes it more difficult for them to follow up and take care of the problem, so remember that the residents of King Farm are the eyes and ears of the community. If you see something that doesn’t seem right, report it to the police; if it’s not an emergency or life-threatening matter, reach them at 240-314-8900.

RockView Program
If you have a ring camera (or other front door/doorbell camera), you can register it with the RCPD. The RockView program allows residents and business owners to voluntary register their privately owned video security camera systems with the RCPD. Registration in the RockView program does not enable law enforcement to view camera footage without an owner’s permission. However, the RockView program will allow city police to quickly identify security cameras that may have captured criminal activity when a crime is reported nearby.
