August Board & Committee Meetings
All King Farm meetings will continue to be held virtually although Board and Committee members may decide to gather in person. Residents can easily find the Zoom registration links for all upcoming King Farm Board of Trustees and Committee meetings online by visiting King Farm website under the “Board & Committees” dropdown / “Zoom Meeting Links” page (https://kingfarm.org/zoom-meeting-links/). *Please Note: agendas and resident board books are usually available the Friday prior to the meeting.
To attend the Zoom meetings, you must register in advance. As part of the registration process, registrants must submit their contact information (name, street address, email, and phone number) and select yes or no if they would like to speak during open forum. If you would like to speak during open forum, please provide the topic you will be speaking about. Comments will be limited to 3 minutes speaking time per resident. Should the Board determine that additional discussion is needed, it will appear on a future agenda.

Please note, there were errors in the Calendar (page 3) of the Chronicle regarding the date and time for the Board of Code Compliance meetings. The Board of Code Compliance is scheduled to meet Monday August 8th and Monday, September 12th at 7:00pm. We apologize for any confusion.

Exterior Maintenance
Thank you to all the homeowners who have proactively perform routine maintenance on their home and landscaping. Thank you to the homeowners who have addresses maintenance items identified in the inspection notices and the homeowners who are actively working to address items.
Despite the hard work many put into their homes, management continues to receive complaints from about poor home maintenance. Part of homeownership is the regular periodic maintenance of the home (interior and exterior). While KFCA does not review the interior of your home, periodic exterior maintenance inspections are performed. Please take time to walk around your home and identify rotting wood (fences, decks, window trim, etc.), broken components (like fence slates and vent covers), missing components (like shutters and shutter dogs), chipping paint, mold/mildew (on lead walks/stoops/stairs and siding all around including below decks) , overgrown trees/bushes/grass, driveway repairs/sealant/resurfacing, etc.
Be a good neighbor. Be proactive and regularly inspect the exterior of the home so small items don’t become a future problem. By addresses maintenance early, you can lower the maintenance expenses in the future.

Montgomery County Updates:
Annual Montgomery County Agricultural Fair to be Held Over Nine Days from Aug. 12-20:
- The annual Montgomery County Agricultural Fair will be held over nine days for Aug. 12-20 at the Montgomery County Agricultural Center fairgrounds in Gaithersburg.
- Founded in 1949, the Montgomery County Agricultural Center has been home to the Montgomery County Fair since its creation. Sitting on 62 acres, the fair has more than 50 buildings that are filled with more than 5,000 animals every year. The fair features entertainment, food, commercial, home arts, arts and crafts exhibit.
- General admission is $15 onsite and $12 online. Children 11-and-under are free. Parking on the fairgrounds site is $10.
- Special admission days will be Senior Day on Tuesday, Aug. 16, with free admission for attendees 62 yrs. + from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Military Day on Thursday, Aug. 18, with free admission all day for active military in uniform or with a valid military ID from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

COVID-19 Remains a Community Concern:
- Montgomery County had an average of about 50 cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 people at this time last year. For the last several weeks, the County is averaging more than 200 reported cases per 100,000 residents. The County, like the national trend, is seeing reinfections in some residents and health officials say that natural immunity is not as strong as the immunity people get from vaccination and boosters.

New Preregistration Survey Now in Place for Monkeypox Vaccines, but in Limited Supply:
- Monkeypox continues to be an infection of growing concern in Montgomery County and around the nation. Montgomery County has a limited supply of monkeypox vaccine and has established a new preregistration survey to identify residents who are interested in receiving a vaccination and are at risk for having been exposed to monkeypox in the previous four to 14 days.

King Farm Neighbors Village News (KFNV)
The King Farm Neighbor Village (KFNV) is continuing to build its community services program with:
1. Transportation to appointments,
2. Friendly phone calls,
3. Friendly visits, and
4. One new service – simple household tasks.
Please feel free to avail yourself of these KFNV services, especially the new service-simple household tasks. Examples of this service range from changing light bulbs to watering plants for a vacationing KFNV member. Please note that services are open to KFNV members only; however, membership is free and an easy process. See below on how to contact the KFNV to schedule any of the services or with any questions that you may have about the services as well as how to become a KFNV member.
Events
The KFNV started its August events yesterday with the KFNV Movie Club’s discussion of Nomadland. All agreed that the many accolades and awards given to Nomadland, including 2021 Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director for Chloe Zhao, and Best Actress for Frances McDormand, were well-deserved.
The other scheduled event for August is on August 17th from 10:00 to 11:30 am where
the KFNV will host its final Coffee and Conversation for the summer by discussing the topic: What was a favorite game or pastime you enjoyed as a child and/or your children enjoyed?
**The KFNV Book Club will not meet in August; nor will there be an August highlight event. The KFNV will resume both activities in September.
Please note that the KFNV Book Club, Movie Club, and Coffee and Conversation meet in hybrid form—both in-person and virtually. Specifically, the KFNV has reserved the King Farm Community Center, 300 Saddle Ridge Circle, Rockville, MD 20850 for these in-person meetings. In accordance with the policy adopted by the KFNV Board of Directors, people attending KFNV sponsored, in-person events must be vaccinated per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s COVID recommendations. Wearing a mask is optional. For those unable to join in-person, the KFNV will offer a Zoom option. Finally, the KFNV offers transportation to any of its monthly meetings for KFNV members. Most KFNV monthly events require membership to participate; however, membership is a free and and easy process. RCPD Crime Tips – One Pill Can Kill: Be Aware Of Counterfeit Prescription Pills
You may already know of the seriousness of opioid abuse this coming National Recovery Month, but did you know that counterfeit pills are a growing source of death in the United States?
These drugs have exploded in prevalence: in 2021, the DEA seized more fake pills laced with fentanyl than the previous 2 years put together.
DEA lab testing has also revealed that 4 out of every 10 pills with Fentanyl contain a potentially lethal dose. Criminal drug networks mass-produce counterfeit pills to look like prescription drugs like Oxycontin, Percocet, Vicodin, Xanax, and Adderall. These fake pills are widely available on social media and have been identified in all 50 states and DC.
