King Farm Hawaiian Luau on the Lawn Tomorrow Night

King Farm is excited to announce the Hawaiian Luau on the lawn is back. Come dressed in your Hawaiian best as King Farm prepares to bring that Hawaiian island magic to the Saddle Ridge Community Center lawn tomorrow, Saturday, June 10, 2023 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Come enjoy a live luau show as we welcome back our Hawaiian Luau friends, Tuika and his family for an authentic Luau show which includes Polynesian dancers, hula fun and the highly anticipated Samoan Fire Dance at dusk. The show also includes interactive segments where both adults and kids will be able to come on stage and learn to hula with the best.

The King Farm Screamin’ Geese will be selling concessions during the event.

Portions of Saddle Ridge Circle will be shut down by police at 6:00 p.m. to allow for pedestrian safety. You are encouraged to walk to the event.

King Farm Pools Open for Swim

The summer season is here and the pools are open for daily from 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily. However, there are some schedule changes due to King Farm Swim Team meets. You can find the schedule here: https://kingfarm.org/citizens-assembly-pools/.

We want to remind everyone that you MUST have either a physical Key Fob or Mobile Amenities Pass to access the pools.

Your picture is attached to the key fob and mobile pass. Please be sure the key fob or pass you use is assigned to you. Guards can look up your information, but if it doesn’t match or it isn’t available, entry may be denied. Please be patient.

APPOINTMENTS AND WALK-INS ARE WELCOME MONDAY – THURSDAY 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM AND FRIDAY FROM 9:00 AM – 1:30 PM at 300 SADDLE RIDGE CIRCLE. Email management@kingfarm.org or call 301-987-0122.

If you are delinquent in your monthly assessment fees, you will not have access the pools.

The King Farm pools will be open for Early Morning Swim only on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Early morning swim will start at 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Saddle Ridge pool (300 Saddle Ridge Circle) and Thursdays at the Crestfield/Bailey’s Commons pool.

We want everyone to enjoy their time at the pool, but we expect people to be respectful while patronizing the pool. Be sure to review the pool rules. Violations of the rules can result in the loss of pool privileges. It is important that you and your guests are familiar with the rules. You can review the rules here.

Please remember to follow lifeguard instructions. Failure to follow lifeguard instructions can result in the suspension of the use of the pool for a day, a week, or the remainder of the season.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding and look forward to seeing you at the pool.

Information about the swim lesson program is available at the pools. The swim team will be busy practicing during the morning and evening hours and will be hosting several home swim meets during select Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. The Saddle Ridge Circle pool will be closed during swim meets; however, the Bailey’s Commons pool will be open.

King Farm Neighbors Village News (KFNV)

King Farm Neighbors Village (KFNV) continued its busy roster of activities with yesterday’s Book Club’s review of the book, The Bluest Eye by acclaimed novelist Toni Morrison. The Book Club participants’ consensus was that although the novel was a disturbing story to read, it was never-the-less a must -read given Ms. Morrison’s extraordinary writing.

This week ends with a KFNV event on June 10th, continues next week with three events, and ends with the highlight event on June 22nd.

Please note that the KFNV has changed its monthly Movie Club, Book Club, Coffee and Conversation gatherings, and highlight events to in-person meetings and has reserved the King Farm Community Center, 300 Saddle Ridge Circle, Rockville, MD 20850 for these events.  In accordance with the policy adopted by the KFNV Board of Directors, people attending KFNV sponsored, in-person events must be vaccinated per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s COVID recommendations. Wearing a mask is optional. In case of inclement weather and if there is time to notify participants, the KFNV may opt for a Zoom presentation for any meeting or event.  Therefore, the KFNV will not be offering a hybrid option for any future events.  Finally, the KFNV offers transportation to many of its monthly events for KFNV members. Please contact the Operations Coordinator at kfnvinfo@gmail.com, or leave a voicemail at (301) 799-8104 to arrange for transportation.

The KFNV continues to support King Farm residents with its community services. Transportation services continue to be the top category for KFNV services; however, many requests for simple household tasks have been fulfilled.  As a happy recent recipient of a task fulfilled by our volunteers reported, “Once again, (the two volunteers) are just the best! So very grateful. Thank you thank you.” Other recent tasks that KFNV volunteers have performed are:

  1. Moved unused tiles from a condominium guest room to a garage,
  2. Watered indoor plants and checked on condo for a vacationing KFNV member,
  3. Removed and replaced light bulb in washer/dryer closet of a condo,
  4. Adjusted furnace duct in a utility room of a King Farm home, and
  5. Carried a table down a staircase to the ground floor and outside to load in a car for donation.

As you can see, the tasks have been quite varied. If you are in doubt about whether a task could be performed by one of the KFNV volunteers, go ahead and fill out the service form on the KFNV website. Our Operations Team will get back to you to determine if the task is under our umbrella of tasks.

Besides transportation and simple household tasks, the KFNV also offers friendly phone calls, texts and friendly visits. Please feel free to avail yourself of all of the community services that the KFNV offers. Please note that services are open to KFNV members only; however, membership is free and an easy process. See below on how to contact the KFNV to schedule any of the services or with any questions that you may have about the services as well as how to become a KFNV member.

Contacting the KFNV

For most of the KFNV monthly events as well as the services, membership is required; but membership is as easy as filling out an on-line or mail-in form with residency in the King Farm Community being the only membership requirement.  Although there is no fee to become a KFNV member, the KFNV does, however, accept and welcome donations; for these donations help defray the cost of KFNV services and events.

For information on how to register for any of the above events, to request a service or a ride, to become a KFNV member or a volunteer, or to make a donation, please contact the Operations Coordinator by calling (301) 799-8104 to  leave a voicemail,  emailing the KFNV at kfnvinfo@gmail.com , or viewing the KFNV website at  www.kfnv.org.

RockView Program

If you have a ring camera (or other front door/doorbell camera), you can register it with the RCPD. The RockView program allows residents and business owners to voluntary register their privately owned video security camera systems with the RCPD. Registration in the RockView program does not enable law enforcement to view camera footage without an owner’s permission. However, the RockView program will allow city police to quickly identify security cameras that may have captured criminal activity when a crime is reported nearby.
