PAVING PROJECT – PLEASE REVIEW
The concrete and paving project will be taking place between July – September. During the project, there will be temporary inconveniences, such as restricted access to alleys, streets, parking spaces, and parking lots. There may also be street parking that may be affected when there is concrete work. Weather related delays – If a day is rained out, the schedule will continue as detailed (unless otherwise stated), and the missed day will be added to the end of the schedule.
To ensure a smooth process, we kindly request your cooperation with the following:
Parking/Access: Please be mindful of any temporary parking restrictions or access in affected areas and plan accordingly.
Traffic: Follow the instructions of the traffic management personnel and adhere to any signage or alternate routes provided.
PHASE B – PATCH AND MILLING & PAVING:
JULY 11TH – AUG 23RD
Patching of miscellaneous potholes and deteriorated asphalt areas will be done throughout the community. There may be times when the area may be blocked, and in some cases, the entire alley may be closed. There may be some areas that will require slightly longer time frames. Maps show areas requiring multiple days of work.
PHASE C – CRACKFILL:
AUG 28TH – 30TH (ALLEYS)
AUG 31ST -SEPT 1ST (ROADS)
Cracks in the alleys and roads will be filled to help prevent further deterioration of the asphalt. The product typically dries in 30 minutes, but surfaces will remain tacky and may stick to tires and shoes (depending on temperatures), so be mindful when walking and driving.
PHASE D – ASPHALT SEALCOATING:
SEPT 5TH – 15TH
All alleys will be sealcoated except alleys with significant patchwork (see gray areas on map). Alleys will be blocked, so vehicles cannot drive in the alleys starting at 7:00 am the morning of the scheduled work. Access will be granted the following day. Striping of lots will be done same day as sealcoat.

The King Farm Fall Festival will return for another year of fun! This year’s event will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (with a rain date of Sunday, October 15, 2023).
The Fall Festival is King Farm’s biggest event of the year with thousands of people attending, and this year we expect an even bigger crowd. There will be free children’s activities, live music, food vendors, horse-drawn hayrides, a pumpkin decorating, scarecrow fun, inflatables for children and the popular Business Fair.
Registration is now open for your business to gain exposure to thousands of King Farm residents by taking part in the Business Fair. If you are interested in participating this year, please do not delay as there is a limited number of booth spaces this year.

King Farm Pools Open for Swim
The summer season is here and the pools are open for daily from 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily. You can find the schedule here: https://kingfarm.org/citizens-assembly-pools/.
We want to remind everyone that you MUST have either a physical Key Fob or Mobile Amenities Pass to access the pools.
Your picture is attached to the key fob and mobile pass. You cannot share key fobs. Please be sure the key fob or pass you use is assigned to you. Guards can look up your information, but if it doesn’t match or it isn’t available, entry may be denied.

If you are delinquent in your monthly assessment fees, you will not have access the pools.
The King Farm pools will be open for Early Morning Swim only on Tuesdays at Saddle Ridge and Thursdays at Baileys. Early morning swim is 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Saddle Ridge pool (300 Saddle Ridge Circle) while swim team is in session and 6:00 am – 10:00 am after swim team concludes , Early morning swim is on Thursdays from 6:00 am – 10:00 am at the Bailey’s Commons Pool (920 Crestfield Dr).
We want everyone to enjoy their time at the pool, but we expect people to be respectful while patronizing the pool. Be sure to review the pool rules. Violations of the rules can result in the loss of pool privileges. It is important that you and your guests are familiar with the rules.
Please remember to follow lifeguard instructions. Failure to follow lifeguard instructions can result in the suspension of the use of the pool for a day, a week, or the remainder of the season.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding and look forward to seeing you at the pool.
King Farm Neighbors Village News (KFNV)
Many of the King Farm Neighbors Village (KFNV) monthly activities, including Book Club, Movie Club, Coffee and Conversation, and the highlight event are on hiatus for the month of August. The KFNV, however, will still be continuing with offering its community services as well as the following events.
August Events
- The Walking Club will continue to meet Monday-Thursday at 4 pm in the park across from The Fontina Grille. The group is taking shorter walks with the high heat and humidity and will not walk when the temperature is at or above 90 degrees, in the event of a thunderstorm, or if there is a code red weather alert.
- On Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 1:00-3:00 pm, The Friends Club will meet for its monthly lunch at Bon Fresco, 534 Gaither Road, Rockville, MD.
Looking forward to September, the KFNV has a full roster of events for KFNV members and
non-members to participate in.
September Events
- The Walking Club will continue its jaunts Monday-Thursday at 4 pm, except when the temperature is 90 degrees or higher, in the event of a thunderstorm, of if there is a code red weather alert. The group meets in the park across from The Fontina Grille.
- On Thursday, September 7, 2023, the Movie Club will meet from 2:00-3:00 pm to review the movie, Dog, a 2022 comedy-drama about two former Army Rangers, one of whom is a Belgian Malinois canine as they take a road trip to get to a fellow soldier’s funeral. Channing Tatum is both the lead actor and director along with Reid Carolin. Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a 77% rating.
- On Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 12:30-2:00 pm, Book Club members will review the book, The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles. As Dale Singer of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch stated, “Like the intercontinental route that it is named for, The Lincoln Highway is long and filled with intriguing detours. In the hands of a master wordsmith like Towles, it is definitely worth the trip.”
- On Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 1:00-3:00 pm, The Friends Club will meet at Botenero for its monthly lunch. Come and “chat and chew” with your KFNV friends.
- NOTE: COFFE AND CONVERSATION FROM THIS MONTH ON WILL MEET ON THE FOURTH WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH.
On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, the Coffee and Conversation group, will gather from 10:00-11:30 pm and discuss the topic: Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.
- Highlight Event: On Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 4:00-5:00 pm, Patricia Dubroff will facilitate a class entitled, “Creative Engagement and Champagne.” Ms. Dubroff is Director of Community Relations/Creative Aging Specialist with Assisting Hands of Potomac as well as a professional artist & teacher. During this interactive event, Ms. Dubroff will demonstrate a simple, hands-on art project to create individualized note cards. You do not have to be a member of the KFNV to participate in this creative activity. We hope to see many King Farm friends at this “sparkling” and fun activity.
Please note that the monthly Movie Club, Book Club, Coffee and Conversation gatherings, and many highlight events are held at the King Farm Community Center, 300 Saddle Ridge Circle, Rockville, MD 20850. In case of inclement weather and if there is time to notify participants, the KFNV may opt for a Zoom presentation for any meeting or event. Finally, the KFNV offers transportation to many of its monthly events for KFNV members. Services
The KFNV continues to support King Farm residents with its community services. Transportation services continue to be the top category for KFNV services; however, many requests for simple household tasks have been fulfilled. As a happy, recent recipient of a task fulfilled by our volunteers reported, “Once again, (the two volunteers) are just the best! So very grateful. Thank you thank you.” Other recent tasks that KFNV volunteers have performed are:
- Took out trash for an incapacitated participant,
- Watered indoor plants and fed cats for vacationing KFNV members,
- Removed and replaced a light bulb in a washer/dryer closet of a condo,
- Adjusted a furnace duct in a utility room of a King Farm home; and
- Carried a table down a staircase to the ground floor and outside to load in a car for donation.
As you can see, the tasks have been quite varied. If you are in doubt about whether a task could be performed by one of the KFNV volunteers, go ahead and fill out the service form on the KFNV website. Our Operations Team will get back to you to determine if the task is under our umbrella of tasks.
Besides transportation and simple household tasks, the KFNV also offers friendly phone calls, texts, and friendly visits. Please feel free to avail yourself of all of the community services that the KFNV offers. Please note that services are open to KFNV members only; however, membership is free and an easy process. See below on how to contact the KFNV to schedule any of the services or with any questions that you may have about the services as well as how to become a KFNV member.
Volunteers Wanted
The KFNV is looking for “a few good volunteers” to provide community services to its members. The KFNV is looking for volunteer assistance —from serving on committees like the Events Committee, to assisting the Operations Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, or the Webmaster– to providing transportation services to our members. For most of the KFNV monthly events as well as the services, membership is required; but membership is as easy as filling out an on-line or mail-in form with residency in the King Farm Community being the only membership requirement. Although there is no fee to become a KFNV member, the KFNV does, however, accept and welcome donations; for these donations help defray the cost of KFNV services and events.

Free Outdoor Movies in the Parks
Get outside this summer and get into Rockville’s free outdoor movies in the parks on the big screen. Enjoy four different movies at four different neighborhood parks throughout the city. Movies begin at dusk (approximately 8 p.m.) and are free. Bring your own chairs, blankets, food and non-alcoholic beverages. In case of inclement weather, cancelations will be posted to www.facebook.com/cityofrockville.

RockView Program
If you have a ring camera (or other front door/doorbell camera), you can register it with the RCPD. The RockView program allows residents and business owners to voluntary register their privately owned video security camera systems with the RCPD. Registration in the RockView program does not enable law enforcement to view camera footage without an owner’s permission. However, the RockView program will allow city police to quickly identify security cameras that may have captured criminal activity when a crime is reported nearby.
