The King Farm Neighbors Village (KFNV) has the following events scheduled for the last four weeks of May.
- Please meet up with the KFNV Walking Club Monday through Friday at 3:45 pm sharp at the park across from The Fontina Grille at 801 Pleasant Dr, Rockville, MD 20850. If you haven’t joined before and plan to, please send a message to kfnvinfo@gmail.com letting the Walking Club know you want to be on the Walking Club Mailing List. The Walking Club does not meet when the weather is inclement.
- On Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 12:30-2:00 pm, the KFNV Book Club will review the novel, Happiness Falls by Angie Kim, a local author from Northern Virginia. Imbolo Mbue, a Cameroonian- American novelist described the work as, “A brilliant novel that has everything I want in fiction—great writing, fascinating characters, suspenseful storytelling, and thought-provoking themes.”
- On Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 7-8:30 pm in the King Farm Community Center, the KFNV will host Games Night. The KFNV will provide various board games, but you are welcome to bring your own game(s) as well. In addition, please bring your own snacks and drinks to nibble on and sip as you play your favorite board game.
- On Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 1:00-3:00 pm, the KFNV Friends will meet at The Fontina Grille, 801 Pleasant Drive, Rockville, MD 202850 for their monthly luncheon. This is a KFNV Friends meetup, and everyone is responsible to pay for their own food. - On Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 10:00-11:30 am in the King Farm Community Center, Coffee and Conversation participants will meet for their first summer meeting. The discussion topic will be: “What is your favorite recipe(s) for picnics or barbecues? Please bring a copy of your recipe. We hope to see many of our King Farm friends at our gathering.
- On Thursday, June 25, 2026, the Metro Club will visit The Phillips Collection at 1600 21st Street, NW, Washington, DC., a short walk from Dupont Circle. The special exhibit is “Miro and the United States,” exploring the connections and influences of the development of post-war art on both sides of the Atlantic. Extra time will be given to explore other parts of the collection.
The particulars of the visit are:
- The KFNV Metro Club will meet on the Shady Grove Metro platform in time to take the 9:35 am train to Dupont Circle.
- There is a museum fee: Adults– $20 and Seniors (62+) — $15.
- After viewing the exhibit, join us for lunch at “Bread Furst” in the gallery or at a nearby restaurant.
- The group will return by Metro by 2:30 pm.
Please note you must be a member of the KFNV to participate in this event; however, membership is as easy as filling out an on-line or mail-in form with residency in the King Farm community being the only membership requirement. Please see below under “Contacting the KFNV” for how to become a member.
- On that same day Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 6:30-8:00 pm, the KFNV will host: Summer Solstice Potluck, a members-only potluck dinner to celebrate summer. The particulars are:
Who: Only members of the KFNV are invited to participate in this event. Please see below how to easily become a KFNV member.
What: Please bring your favorite summer dish to serve 6-8 people. Also, please bring a notecard with the dish’s ingredients listed and a serving utensil.
Time: 6:30-8:00 pm with dinner starting promptly at 6:45 pm.
Other Important Information:
The KFNV will provide dessert (cookies/fruit), beverages (water and lemonade), paper products, and eating utensils. Please register for this event by Thursday, June 18, 2025, as space is limited. In addition, when registering, please note the dish that you will be bringing.
Services
The KFNV continues to support King Farm residents with its community services: transportation to appointments, simple household tasks, friendly phone calls/texts, and friendly visits. Please feel free to avail yourself of all of the community services that the KFNV offers. In particular, during this primary voting season, if you are in need of a ride to the polls on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, please feel free to reach out to us about our transportation services. Also, please note that if you are in doubt about whether a task could be performed by one of the KFNV volunteers, go ahead and fill out the service form on the KFNV website. Our Operations Team will get back to you to determine if the task is under our umbrella of tasks. Finally, please note that services are open to KFNV members only; however, membership is free and an easy process. Contacting the KFNV
KFNV membership is required for most club and group events and all services provided. Please remember that membership is as easy as filling out an on-line or mail-in form; for the only KFNV membership requirement is King Farm residency. We are a multi-generational Village; therefore, the KFNV welcomes all adult King Farm residents of all ages.
Although there is no fee to become a KFNV member, the KFNV does, however, accept and welcome donations; for these donations help defray the cost of KFNV services and events.
