The Geese are screamin’… in anticipation of finally being able to swim this summer season. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, last year’s swim team season was canceled, a first in the history of over 20 years of swim teaming in King Farm. The Montgomery County Swim League and Montgomery County Health Department has enacted a list of protocols and procedures for this year’s swim teams to keep everyone as safe as possible. The Screamin’ Geese is frantically working to get the swim team ready for their first meet, expected to be held on Saturday, June 19th.
Unfortunately, because of all the restrictions set forth for COVID-19 safety, the Screamin’ Geese will not be able to have a pre-team this year. This is upsetting to many; however, due to the limitations with distancing and in lap lanes, it was just not possible to add the pre-team into the mix this year. The Geese Family will miss seeing their youngest swimmers at kick board races during meets and the big Pre-Team event at the end of the season!
Registration for swim team is now open and the swim team board is excited to get everyone registered for the season. Those interested should log on to www.kingfarmswimteam.com to register.
The new practice schedule will include an afternoon practice at the Saddle Ridge pool starting June 1, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Once school lets out (June 17th), practices will also be offered from 8:00 to 10:30 am. while the pool is closed to community swim. Due to a limitation on swimmers in each lane, a sign-up sheet will be required for practices.
The official swim team meet schedule has not yet been finalized but watch for next month’s edition of the Chronicle for a complete schedule of swim meets. For more information about the King Farm Screamin’ Geese Swim Team visit www.kingfarmswimteam.com.
